Volunteer
The Hawkins Foundation welcomes and would like to thank volunteers who desire to give of their time, talent(s), efforts, and resources. Volunteers help benefit the greater good of our mission. Your support helps make a difference and allow you to use or gain valuable experience. The Hawkins Foundation is now accepting volunteer applications for the fall of 2019.
The Hawkins Foundation uses mentors to establish relationships, provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, role modeling, and empowerment. Mentors serve to support school-age children and adult men. The role of a mentor is an ongoing and rewarding opportunity. The Hawkins Foundation has developed a Mentor Orientation to assist in understanding your roles and responsibilities towards making a positive impact in the lives of others.
The author’s objective for writing this book is to be used as a learning tool for school-age students. This book focuses on relationships and guiding life lessons. The curriculum has been developed to support the English Language Arts Common Core Learning Standards in reading.
Scholarship
Each spring semester, the Lula B. Hawkins Foundation provides scholarships to assist students who want to graduate with a college degree. The eligibility: target applicant(s), amount, number of awards, GPA, deadline, and how to apply criteria are posted on The Hawkins Foundation website each February.
Literacy Initiative
The Hawkins Foundation supports the ability to read and with good comprehension for all ages. The Hawkins Foundation will partner with schools and other institutions. Reading is the most important building block of life.
