Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen the role of faith-based and community organizations by addressing the needs of literacy, individuals facing abandon hope, and higher education opportunities for at- risk youth.
Our Initiatives
During the course of the year, The Hawkins Foundation will offer opportunities for children and adults to experience various self-help genres through literacy, become empowered through the integration of the mind body and soul, and support students at risk with the opportunity to attend post-secondary education.
When We Were Boys
The Hawkins Foundation will initiate the When We Were Boys Book Study for school-aged children aligned with the Common Standards of Learning Curriculum. This book is authored by Executive Director, Donald K. Hawkins.
The Hawkins Foundation will commit to donating books to the libraries of public institutions, that house incarcerated men. This literary initiative focuses on enriching the lives of men who experience the feelings of abandoned hope. Book titled: My Life According to the Promise is authored by Executive Director, Donald K. Hawkins.
The Hawkins Foundation has established that the Mrs. Lula B. Hawkins Scholarship Award to financially assist students in their post-secondary endeavor.
The Hawkins Foundation will sponsor ongoing mind, body, and soul mentor opportunities and inspirational speaking engagements for adult men seeking mental empowerment.
